Also smugly enjoying the story of my breakfast. This is a delightful collection of weekend news beginning with the 200 year old "playful prophylactic" and the test for Alzheimer's, animal stories of Zebra Ed, Dilly Dally the sea turtle, Samoa's marine protection, and a 20 ft tall No. 2 pencil. We make the good days every day! ☕

Schadenfreude is a beautiful word and concept in this case.

I always make my müesli with water instead of milk. I think the original Birchermüesli recipe does need a bit of an overhaul and this sound just about right. For me it does need a grated apple as well.

Somehow that condom turned up in my IG feed. Not sure what that says about me – I’m sure it’s because of all the artsy accounts I follow 😊. Love the Venice painting.

Go Ed! That just reminded me of a small Swedish town close to the Norwegian border called Ed.

Loving the pencil story! Now, wondering if similar wood is used to make pencils and alphorns. Perplexity says no. Makes sense, but disappointing.

This was lovely. Glad I had popcorn ready. Have a great holiday weekend.

Thank you for the intermission of the chaos. Very much appreciated. I managed to get my coffee before reading today, noting that my Social Security arrived on time……this month. One day at a time! Love the story about the “antique” condom. I am a fan of the old ways and artifacts. Enjoy the day everyone! 😘

Great stuff this morning! Schadenfreude caught my attention, too, Evelyn. Haven’t thought of that word in so many years, and it is so fitting in context to our current state here in the US. The Epstein thing isn’t new……don’t know why anyone would pin their hopes on that ‘discovery’. Your offerings today, Alexander, were delicious (breakfast), information-packed, and thoughtful. A delightful way to start the day……as always.

Agree about Turner. It is his vision and technique that inspire, after all, not just his subject matter. Wonderful perspective on shipwreck recovery being a way to honor the dead. Dilly Dally is indeed a much needed natural hero. Thank you for another inspiring collection, Alexander
